Friday Update

This Sunday - Fifth Sunday Potluck
Butch Lewis grilling home cooked hamburgers and sausage sandwiches. We will have buns and some fixins' so bring your side dishes and deserts and yourself and Pass A Good Time.

With a Fifth Sunday Dinner we also will have the United Blood Service Mobile Unit here from 10:00am - 1:00pm to receive donations. Roll up your sleeve and give.

Brother Byron will be preaching this week as I will be in Baton Rouge ready to go into the Prison for a Closing Service with our Kairos Team. I Know you are praying for them and their work at spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

A Big thanks to all who helped with the Skeeter Run last Saturday. Pouring down rain couldn't keep people from turning out, and some even when out to walk or run in that mess. I roughed in the kitchen with my jambalaya and hot coffee, but hey, someone had to do it. Us Methodist raised over $6000 here in Lafayette. Once again, we find out how the Body of Christ comes together to do God's Work.

Looking to See You Soon.

It's Friday the 13th!

It may be Friday the 13th but we Trust Anyway.

This mornings Upper Room Devotional, all about trusting even when not able to see. That is where we are today. In spite of what we see with our physical eyes, our eyes of faith say God is Here, and God's Grace is available for all.

Tomorrow, Saturday, 8:00am - Mens Breakfast and Work Day
For some 3 hours or whatever you can give, some light carpentry, changing out soffits and facis boards on our preschool building, and if possible, some cleanup of our back lot.

Then Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm - visitation with the Randall Family with the Celebration Memorial Service for Hilda Randall at 3:00pm in our Sanctuary.

KAIROS KOOKIES
Susie wants me to remind all you who volunteered to bake cookies for our Kairos Women. You can start to bring them to the church this Sunday but all are due by next Wednesday. She will meet you in the kitchen to store the cookies away from cookie testers.

Once again, a BIG THANKS  for helping to make Easter Sunday such a powerful witness to the Power of our Resurrected Lord for His church. Three great worship services, over 500 in attendance, and then to see so many people as we broke ground for our new building. God is So Good. We have such a great Chancel Choir, Praise Band, Bell Choir, and so many great musicians. And we have more special music this week, you won't want to miss.

See You in Your Place of Worship this Sunday. We don't want to make this Low Sunday. I am beginning a series on God's Directions for the Game of Life. This week, the Standard of Gold. Come listen to how God's Instructions when applied can change our life and thus the world.

My Church Family -

What a Joy it was Easter Sunday. My feet have not yet hit the ground. Over 500 in worship, and the Chancel Choir performance could not have been any more of a blessing. Thanks Ken and all you choir members who worked so hard to share that gift with us. Then on top of the worship, to be able to march out and break ground for our new building. I have heard that the Contractor should actually be starting around April 23rd. Just Can't Wait!

I do have some family news for us, at long last Hilda Randall went home to be present with Her Lord and Savior this morning. She fought the good fight and she kept her faith, and so did Mr. Gene. Our church family will be able to Celebrate her Life and Resurrection on Saturday at 3:00pm at our church. A brief time of visitation will occur at 2:00om until the service. We will surely miss her loving and caring attitude for others, even up until the end, she was thinking of others.

Wednesday Schedule:
9:30am - Explorers Bible Study
5:00pm - Hand Bell Choir
5:30pm - Wednesday Night Dinner
6:15pm - Children's Ministry Program
6:30pm - A New Study begins: Living the Lord's Prayer. A Five Week study looking at the Lord's Prayer as a Path of Discipleship.

If you haven't signed up for the Imagine No Malaria Walk on Saturday April 21st, it is not too late.

This Saturday Morning:
Calling all men and abled body women, we need to do a little maintenance work. Soffits and eaves of our preschool building. Wally Manuel is looking for a few good workers to help line this out and change a few rotten boards. We'll feed you a little before 8:00am and work for some 3 hours, giving you plenty of time to clean up if you wish to attend the Memorial Service for Hilda Randall.

Sunday, I am starting a new Sermon Series, The Game of Life, beginning with the Rule of Gold.

Sincerely,

Two New Classes

Two classes will be offered in May. First if you have a child 6th grade and up, that has never confirmed their faith and made a commitment to join the church, we will have Confirmation classes on May 6th, 13th, and 20th. The class will be held on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 – 3:30. Confirmation Sunday will be Sunday the 27th, Pentecost Sunday, the day the class will join the church.
