Don't Forget...
This is our Fifth Sunday of the Month, which means several things:
Worship - O For a Thousand Tongues, we will have lots of singing for this Fifth Sunday and my message is on the power of praise.
Service - why not bring a few extra items for the UCO Food Pantry? I know this is not the First Sunday of the Month but since we are gathering to eat, why not remember others?
Food - Don't forget, Fifth Sunday Potluck. The church is providing meat - brisket, sausage, ribs, slaw and some baked beans; and you bring all the rest. Please make plans to stay and eat with your church family. Serving will begin after Sunday School, and will continue after our 11:00am service.
Weather permitting, a softball game following.
We made some progress on the building: plumbing and electrical completed for in the slab work but them boy did it rain yesterday afternoon.
It is in God's Timing but I continue to be amazed at your faithfulness in providing funding. Thank You!
Sincerely,

What's Coming Up
Wish You Were Here - VBS is going great. Well over 100 little ones every day, lots of volunteers with high energy, Sunday they will be singing one of their songs and you will be able to see a video of their assembly. GREAT BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED MAKE THIS POSSIBLE!
All Men on Deck - this Saturday morning at 8:00am, breakfast, followed by a light workday. We need to hang some trim, maybe do simple toilet repairs, a little painting, some inside work, some outside work. Hopefully it won't take too long. It is one way we show our church family how much we love this place, by pitching in and doing a few "honey do" projects.
Sunday - don't forget to come hungry. The Tree People will be receiving donations for cinnamon sticks from Great Harvest Bread Company, in order to help fund the 30 plus trees we need to plant around our property. Love a Tree, Help our Kids.

Where's the Ark?
In case you forget - that is what a sun looks like. Wondering if God forgot to tell us to get the ark ready?
Several announcements: Ginger Prine, who had moved up north a few years ago, died, and we will have her graveside service on Saturday, 2:00pm, at Lafayette Memorial - the cemetery on Pinhook just past Kaliste Saloom. She was an important part of our church for years, so I hope our church will be well represented.
VBS announcements - immediately following our 11am worship service, we will physically transform the sanctuary and other rooms to be ready to host VBS. There is mandatory (required), you gotta be there meeting for the leaders at 3pm on Sunday.
The message this Sunday is focusing on "Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine." Can't wait to see you there.
And yes, the Son, Jesus Christ is always shining on us, even if the sun, the big star in the sky isn't.

Rainy Day News and Options
Into each life some rain must fall.
Singing in the rain.
God sends the rain upon the just and the unjust.
Don't rain on my parade.
And rain fell upon the earth for forty days and for forty nights.
Now that I've shared with you all the cliches and Biblical quotes I know, you know the rain is falling, has been falling , and seems it will continue to fall.
And as a result: progress on our Building has gotten stuck in the mud. Oh well, we can gripe or sing in the rain. But here is the other effect of the rain, the staff and parents were supposed to have a softball game this evening, but it seems as if the youth and young adults who were cowering to play us old folks, certainly prayed for the rain to fall on our parade. So the game has been postponed until our Fifth Sunday, following our cook out of hamburgers and hot dogs. The Youth will attempt to play the staff, parents, and other ringers we bring in. You will want to plan to stay after church not only to eat, but to root on your favorite team (which as your pastor I am sure which team that will be- right?).
But for tonight, the youth and young adults will still meet tonight for a hot game of trivial pursuit and want their parents and other adults to challenge them tonight. They will meet at 6:00pm. Sausage poboys will be served.
VIP - Wednesday evening, our Mid Month Summer Solace Light meal - Grilled Chicken Salad, Chicken nuggets and fries for the kids, serving at 5:30pm, and then at 6:30pm we will gather for worship. Our youth will be leading this service, and then we will have Holy Communion. A Great picker upper.
Sunday - the series continues on Great Hymns of Faith - this week--- Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine.

Happy and Safe 4th of July!
May this Fourth Find You truly celebrating the Freedom we have in our Nation, Praying for our Nation, for all our Leaders, President Obama, and all the Congress; and especially for all those men and women who have served and are now serving our Nation and willing to place themselves in Harms Way, our Military.GOD BLESS THE USA!
MEN - don't forget we will celebrate that freedom of speech by gathering at 8:30 Thursday morning and having the BULL Session. See You There!
We are making progress. Most of the 20' deep pillars have been poured in spite of rain and obstacles. But hopefully by Sunday you can see some of that progress on our slab. Remember Jesus is the Rock of Our Salvation and we want our Building on Solid Ground.
Sunday - my message is on "Nearer My God to Thee" incorporating two Jacob stories, of him realizing God has come near to us.
If you get outside, stay cool, drink water, and Thank the Lord for having the opportunity to do what we want.
