Mellington Service Details

Many of you have heard already about the passing of our friend and Brother in Christ, Lyle Mellington.

Visitation is schedule for tonight, Tuesday, from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Delhomme Funeral Home.

Tomorrow, visitation will be from noon until 2:00pm here at Covenant. Then at 2:00pm we will have the funeral service.

I am told that the obituary will not appear in the newspaper until tomorrow morning, so some people may not find out in time these arrangements. Please, if you know anyone who knows Lyle and Daisy, please pass this information on.

As we celebrate the life of Lyle, let us continue to lift up Daisy and the family during this time.

  1. Lyle was a genuine friend of mine. We had many common interests which led to many wonderful conversations. Both of us love UL baseball, both of us are faithful followers of our favorite college football teams. He loved Oklahoma, I love Florida State.
We talked often about many different topics, including our wives. We had another thing in common there. We both adore our wives. I never heard Lyle say the first negative thing about his darling Daisy. He spoke often of his genuine love for her. I really admire that in a man.
One evening at a UL baseball game we talked about his trip to Washington DC, on the Honor Air flight from which he had recently returned. Lyle broke out in tears, genuine tears, about how much that trip meant to him. He was a WW2 vet, and a proud vet. He loved his country and cherished his time in the Navy, even though there was a hard core war going on at the time. He was so very proud of his trip to see the WW2 memorial that had been recently finished in Wash. DC.
I'll miss my friend, and I'll miss him lots. He was a genuine guy, a solid man, and a person that I admired completely.
God rest his weary soul, and I await the time when we can renew our man to man talks about "things".
