Don't Forget! Or What you can do to help the Body of Christ this Weekend!

Sunday Morning Worship - join us as we celebrate Mother's Day - all ladies receive a gift.

As part of our Methodist Day of Caring, we are going to show our care for others by bringing our I CAN FOOD Offering for UCO Food Pantry. Help fill our containers as we help fill the bellies of the poor each Sunday in May.

Plus, we will receive special UMCOR offering all month to help our brothers and sisters in Alabama and Mississippi, where the tornadoes have wrecked havoc.

Don't forget our Methodism 101 Class meets for the first of four Sundays. We will be meeting in the Youth room. Find out our history, our beliefs, our practices - during the Sunday School hour (The Youth will be meeting in the Old Pastor's Office in our Preschool Bldg).

One other way you can help the Body, we have a medical transportation need for one of our members who needs to go to Shreveport on May 20th. If you can drive, please call the church office.

Midweek Reminders - May 4, 2011

Ramblings from the Pastor-

Praise be to God from Whom all Blessings Flow! Our nation may take a collective sigh of relief that the Mastermind to our 9/11 tragedy has met justice and now will answer to his maker for his deeds. Yet, we continue to pray and work towards a peace among our peoples, by working toward the spreading of God's Kingdom. I praise God for President Obama's willingness to allow the US Navy Seals to do their work. May we continue to lift our President and all our troops in prayer so that they may do the Godly Thing.

Praise be to God the local boy scout troop was found unharmed and will have stories to tell their grandchildren for years to come. Thank the Lord for having men and young men prepared to face obstacles as SCOUTING program does.

The Waters are arising! Pray for wisdom for the Army Corp of Engineers as they make decisions on how to manage the rising waters in the Mississippi with the least amount of damage done. Some families will make sacrifices so a larger number of families won't lose their homes. May God grant them peace with these decisions and resources to recover.

Preschool News - May 2, 2011

Wow! It's hard to believe that the school year is almost over. We are on countdown! It has been an awesome first year for me as Director. The Staff is top-notch and great team players. I couldn't ask for better people with whom to work.

Our Summer Session is almost filled with lots of eager students. Our theme this summer is "Animals, Animals, Animals!" We will be looking at many of the animals mentioned in the Bible and the stories surrounding them. Fun jumps, water days and ice cream are on the way!

DID YOU KNOW?

• that we have a growing Youth/Young Adult program here at Covenant? We are a great group who love the Lord and love to have fun and are here to support each other!
• that the members of the group actually lead the lessons/discussions? We cover topics such as prayer, being judgmental, how does being a Christian really impact your life and many more.

The discussions are always lively and always full of laughter, and on occasion, even a few tears.

We meet every Sunday in the Holley Building from 3:30-5:30 (and sometimes we just hang out after).

Mission Possible KIDS - May 1, 2011

Sunday, April 3, our Covenant Mission Possible Kids agents went door-to-door asking for donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items. In one hour, the team of seven agents collected 70 pounds of food to be donated to United Christian Outreach.

We'd like to welcome our newest member, Aleya Duhon, who helped fellow agents Ashlyn and Ava LeFeuve, Evan and Emily Keller, Morgan Stokes, and Kate Manuel collect the food items. Special thanks to agent mom Jamie Keller for helping us.

Agents will celebrate their hard work and the culmination of their work year by joining other children in the church for a special Children's Ministries party to be held Sunday, May 22. Look for more information to come regarding the party. This will serve as our May meeting.

Kairos Prison Ministry

Covenant’s Kairos #32 team members send a huge "THANK YOU" to the most generous congregation EVER! You have once again overwhelmed us with your response to our plea for cookies, 251 dozen - colored pictures, 90 - more of you than ever have signed up to write personal notes and heaven’s door will be stormed by all the prayers of those signed up on that powerful Prayer Chain. That essential "green agape" as we at Kairos call it - once again you have shown where your heart is - in the service of our Lord Jesus Christ – in supplying exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Know that just as surely as if you were a team member marching two by two into that institution, you will, because of your essential contributions, be there with us sharing God's message of love, forgiveness and acceptance to the resident participants of Kairos #32. Remember them and us in your prayers Thursday, April 28 through Sunday May 1. We look forward to bringing you a wonderful follow-up report – especially from new team members, Jennifer Blanchard and Lisa White.
